“Who even is Paul?”

-K. V.

Paul Oh is a mixed Malaysian-Chinese writer and printer who's interested in community development. Since graduating from Colorado College, he’s been based in the Bay Area, working as an intern for the CODEX Foundation.

Described as “interested in things at large,” Paul has more ideas than he knows what to do with. This being a general way of describing his ADHD-led creative process.

“I printed this for 90 cents at Kinko’s.”

-one of my uncles

I started working as a letterpress printer in 2021 as a poster printer at the Press at Colorado College. After two years training as a printer under Aaron Cohick, I came to the Bay Area to continue my exploration of the medium. This journey led me to the CODEX Foundation and the Real Lead Saloon.

Since my introduction to the world of book-arts, I’ve been enamored with printing’s demands of my attention from the level of the pica or single point, to the scale of room-filling industrial machinery. Letterpress doesn’t forgive a neglect of context easily, which is satisfying to me as I work through parallels and juxtaposition.

“Writing? That’s a nice hobby.”
